School Council

The school council consists of 2 pupils from each year group. Twice a year elections take place. Any child wishing to stand for the school council is encouraged to put forward a manifesto to their class. Campaigning takes place during the week leading to the election anon polling day, ballot boxes and voting papers are issued. Each child votes for 2 members in their year group. Votes are then counted and results are announced in our celebration assembly and displayed on the School council notice board.

The Council consists of a chairperson, vice chairperson, treasurer, secretary and assistants.

The council meets on a regular basis to discuss matters arising from the agendas. The pupils are responsible for creating agendas bringing forward issues instigated by all school pupils. Minutes from each meeting are typed and displayed on the school council notice board.

The school council also produces a termly Guyhirn Gazette which includes an interview with a member of staff, joke corner, reports from various activities in school, useful tips, events and competitions.
