We have been supporting our families and community in many ways during the Covid Pandemic.
During the First Lockdown we sent all of our children individualized Postcards from the head teacher and their class teacher.
At Christmas we provided all of our families with hampers entitled ‘Quality ingredients for quality time,’ where we provided, chocolates, biscuits, sweets, hot chocolate , a pack of playing cards and a booklet filled with card games.
The school has applied for hampers from Active Fenland on behalf of our Free school meal families for December and February halfterms.
Throughout the whole Covid situation we have completed welfare checks with all of our families and supported them through many situations and made extra time to talk.
We were successful when applying for a grant from the Winter grant to provide hampers which included basic ingredients for cake making and other essential items ,as we are holding a ‘Guyhirn Bake Off Day ‘ on 1st February. We are inviting our wider community to join us and post pictures of their masterpieces on a Facebook Post.
We created an Amazon Wish list and were overwhelmed by the support we received from our wider community with all of our items purchased within four hours. This has enabled us to provide all of our children with a bird house to construct and paint and resources to make a wind turbine and a vehicle which will be made by the children on our Design and Technology Day on 8th February.
As well as providing Live teaching and remote learning we have bought each child work books with tasks that can be completed in their own time alongside remote learning or in addition.
We have created links with our local food bank and Twenty20 Productions to provide our families with basic food requirements to all our families.
The children in school have been writing letters and drawing pictures which we have delivered to members of our community and received some lovely feedback. 'Your lovely message was a ray of sunshine on a very grey day. THANK YOU. '
We have opened a Community Book swap/ Library that is available to all of our community during school hours located at the school entrance.
We have worked with Magic breakfast to provide breakfast to all our families during the summer break. All families received three boxes of breakfast goodies via Amazon through the Summer holidays.
For the summer holidays we were also able to provide a 'Sports / Fun day hamper' for all of our families including sports equipment , drinks, ice lollies and sun cream.
Whilst we haven't been able to have visitors into school we have still completed termly parent consultations, regular emails , Christmas performances and and a end of year performance that we have recorded and shared via Zoom with all of our families to ensure they haven't missed out on seeing what their children have been achieving.
As a school we have come together to support each other and as staff we have been overwhelmed with the positive support of our families.
Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
